28 BLOG HOP!!

Welcome to the 28 Blog Hop! I'm so happy you stopped by! You should have come here directly from Lillian's blog. If you get off track, you can always start back at stop number 1,  Jamie's blog.

Jamie is the beauty and the brains behind this blog hop. It's her 28th birthday!

To celebrate, she asked for a bunch of crafty volunteers to participate in a blog hop! What a great way to commemorate the day!

Okay, let's talk about me! My name is Marianne. I live on Long Island, in New York, about an hour east of Manhattan. I have been scrapping since 1998 and am still obsessed. I love anything to do with paper and glue and all the little pretty embellishments that go on a page. I dabble in mixed media and art journals and am always looking for ways to stretch my creative muscles.

For my project, I chose to spotlight one embellishment, 28 times. Can you guess what it might be?

Um, yeah, butterflies. I'm just not tired of them yet.  I put Martha Stewart to work and used 3 different punches.

The background paper is from the Creative Imaginations Narratives line and I think I have been hoarding it for a solid 5 years. It was time to finally use it. Some of the butterflies are punched from a mini set of papers from Jenni Bowlin Studios. It was nice to stick with one color scheme and see where it took me.

The finishing blingy touch is from Martha Stewart. I bought a whole rainbow of this gorgeous round chunky glitter.  I adhered it all with Crystal Lacquer and I think my fingers are still a little sticky!

I hope you enjoyed my page. Please leave a comment to be in the running for the grand prize Jamie is giving out (a $30 gc to your favorite online store). You must also return to Jamie's blog and comment that you left everyone some love!

As an added bonus, I will also pick a winner from my comments and send a little scrapping goody your way! Maybe a package of that cool Martha chunky glitter??? If you click the *follow* button for my blog (either the Google friend connect or the Network blogs button), I will add your name twice for my prize drawing! You have until September 30th, 8pm EST to comment. Good Luck!

Next stop, is Michelle!

Washi Tape Card

I played along with Simon Says Stamp & Show this week and created a card to go along with the Tape it Up challenge.

I used a roll of washi that I found at AC Moore for a dollar the other day. It has lots of text on it and I really love the way it looks!

I  took a scrap of cardstock, layered tape on top and punched some ferns out of it to use as an accent.

I layered some washi on the edges of my patterned paper card front and then layered some more Studio Calico HeyDay paper on top of that.  I finished off the card with some pen work, a label sticker from MME, and some alpha stamps from CTMH.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Sunday Scrapping!

I was productive this weekend!

I did a layout based on Shimelle's  latest Starting Point. I love the idea of keeping all the action of a 12x12 page at the top.

I used Scraptastic's July Kit on here. It's about time I busted into it! Thanks for stopping by!

Color Me Scrappy Challenge #12

I am loving THIS challenge website. I have been so inspired to create. This week's color challenge is some bright and happy colors that look like a bowl of Froot Loops!

Here's my layout

So much fun using up some Cocoa Daisy kit stuff which went with the color scheme perfectly!!

I also used the exclusive stamp that comes in the kit. Very cool looking!

I cut a little Starbucks label off a cup sleeve to add to my layout and punched some clouds to make the Amy Tangerine diecut.
Thanks for stopping by and make sure you check out the fun challenge over at Color Me Scrappy!

BIG IDEA FESTIVAL DAY13

All the prompts have been given for the BPS Big Idea Festival but I am just getting down to creating a few things.

Day 13: Scrap an imperfect part of your life.

I chose to do a layout about my home. In a neighborhood of McMansions, it's easy to get caught up in having the latest and greatest. That's just not what makes me happy.

I used some OA Sasparilla on here plus lots of little bits. To further the whole "imperfection" theme, I happened to have gotten a big droplet of water right onto my journaling (insert expletive)!!!!!

Oh well, that's the way it goes. Thanks for stopping by!!

Color Me Scrappy Challenge

I played along over at Color Me Scrappy for this week's color challenge.

I really loved this combo of red, gray and blue. Not normally colors I pick to scrap with, mainly because I have 2 girls.

I went through my stash picking old and new product and paired it with a photo of me and my dad from 1975.  This layout has extensive journaling on it which is a rarity for me. I guess since my father's passing I felt it important to write down specific memories I had of my dad.

I used a vintage patterned piece of October Afternoon (Cherry Hill)/some 9 to 5 OA Tidbits, Crate Paper and LYB patterned paper, Echo Park Note to Self (viewmaster), American Crafts Thickers and Remark sticker letters, MS loopy punch.

A few detail shots

Simon Says Stamp and Show!

The latest challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show the challenge was to create something to do with text.  I covered a 6x6 chipboard mini album with tissue paper and paint and ink and an old encyclopedia page. I stamped and used rubons and made some pretty watercolored butterflies, which I then embossed with a text plate in my Cuttlebug. What fun I had!

All my Learn Something New class pages will live in here.

Learn Something New!

I just started Shimelle's newest class........Learn Something New Everyday. So today is my day 1. I'm using an old Heidi Swapp 6x6 album.

I used Crate Storyteller and some AC Thickers. I used a camera pin and little glassine envie.... both of which came from a Studio Calico kit.

So literally, I enter the city at Penn Station....hence "you are here." (SC stamp set)

and I just had to add a few sprinkles of confetti.

I've also been playing along at BPS's Big Idea Festival. Day one is about sending cards to show folks you care. I have a bunch of thank you's to make and a pile of scraps to get rid of.

So these happened....

I added some interest to the butterfly punches by stamping them with THESE pretty MME stamps. TFL!

Happy September!

I don't know what happened to summer. School starts in a few days and we might make it to the beach one or two more times but fall is really on its way.

Lots of changes in my life. My dad passed away a few weeks ago and I would say I'm still in the disbelief stage of grief. Also my job of three years is not happening this school year which is a nice break but the extra money sure was nice.

So in an effort to take care of me, I have been trying to sit down and create here and there.  I made this fun Disney page today for a stash challenge over at Disney Scrappers.

I used lots of embellies I've had hanging around for ages and I love the way this page came out. I really pushed myself to layer.

I also made this page last month for an August Lily Bee challenge to use paper strips. Real life got in the way of posting it in time, but it was definitely out of the box for me and a page that I really like. I'm linking up to SoapHouseMama's  Layout Love Linky for pages left unblogged!
